#25 May's Restaurant Challenge Applebees Bourbon Street Steak

**Apologies for the hiatus.   I was on vacation, but now back and cookin'!**

Ingredients:

(makes enough for 2 10oz steaks)

2 TBSP each Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce
4 TSP each chili powder, minced garlic
2 TSP each paprika, black pepper
1 TSP onion powder
1/2 TSP oregano
2 C water

Combine all ingredients in a bowl.  Add steaks, cover and refrigerate overnight (or you can transfer to a ziplock bag).   Grill on bbq grill medium high heat 3-5 min per side or cooked as desired.  Or pan fry 3-5 min each side.

Garlic butter:
3 TBSP salted butter
1/8 TSP garlic powder
pinch of salt

Mushroom/onion mixture:
1 TBSP olive oil
1 TBSP salted butter
2 C each thinly sliced onion, white mushrooms
1/8 TSP each salt, pepper

Saute onions in olive oil and butter in a large fry pan until softening.  Then add mushrooms and saute an additional 3-4 mins or until lightly brown.  Top steaks with garlic butter and onion/mushroom mixture.

**I used I Can't Believe It's Not Butter in place of the butter and it turned out fine**

Taste: 4/5   I pan fried the steaks and I think the grill would've made that 5/5 score.  Don't skip the garlic butter and mushroom/onion mixutre, it was definitely worth the extra work.

Serve to guests:  Yes, if grilling this would make a worthy opponent to any other grilled fare.   Also would make a great Father's Day bbq main.

Ease of preparation: 5/5  Considering it took an overnight marinade and extra steps, it really wasn't difficult.

Brit-rating:
5/5 Loved the steak less the mushrooms/onion mixture.
 "I don't fancy mushrooms".
